You can't dress up and go out all the time (not to
mention frequently dying your hair funny colors) without developing a
healthy appreciation for a nice bathroom, so I was very happy to find that
the bathroom in my apartment was so darling... like I mentioned
before, I just don't think my new landlords were quite aware what renters
could do to an apartment when they put this place together...
Want
an example of one of the unbelievable features in my new bathroom?
Just inside the bathroom door, right in front of the shower, was a beautiful
hand-laid glass mosaic floor piece. Woot! I didn't even
need to buy a floor mat, because who's going to cover up something like
that?! Not only that, but straight across from the bathroom door was
another (much cuter) door, leading to nothing less that the hugest, most
adorable closet I've ever seen! I could fit at least thirty bodies
in this closet, and they'd be very fashionable bodies since on top of that
I can fit all of my extra clothes in there (currently the spare closet is
holding all of my pajamas, functional shirts, and winter coats). The
only down side is that I haven't really cleaned this closet out since I
moved in, and as a result it's a tad bit disorganized, but if I did
everything the way I was supposed to I wouldn't have anything to
procrastinate over, right? There's a nice full-length mirror on the
back of the bathroom door (which I don't really use a lot since I have so
many mirrors in my bedroom) and a towel rack next to the spare closet
(which I also don't really use since my hair dying habits result in a lot
of permanently stained, and therefore non-presentable, towels... I think
at some point I'm going to have to buy some towels just for show that I
don't ever use... hrmm...).
The way my bathroom is laid out is that just after the
entrance there's a very cute little hallway and then the
main
part of the bathroom (the main part being the part with the sink and the
mirror, of course). Just like the kitchen, the bathroom has a crazy
little window, but this one I can open occasionally since it actually
comes with a cute little matching screen. The floor in here is
actually tile (as opposed to linoleum, which - as you can read about in my
kitchen description - I am also very thankful for) and there are also
hand-set tiles just above the kitchen sink (fish tiles, even!). I
always wanted a pedestal sink, and now I have one, and I've also always
wanted a bathroom big enough to hold a litterbox... woot! You can't
tell from the photo, I'm sure, but that's an old issue of Dragon magazine
on top of the litterbox... apparently I'm too much of a dork to make up
some cool kind of magazine (since you wouldn't have been able to tell
anyway)... argh. Oh, well... nerdy reading material for nerdy
bathroom dwellers, eh? I think I'd like to add some wall decorations
to the bathroom (I tend to like wall decorations, in case you couldn't
tell by the other room descriptions), but I'm not sure what colors to go
with... since everything is off-white I could pretty much do any color
combination I like. Maybe at some point I'll ask my landlords if I
can paint, since they're so amazingly laid back about and accepting about
everything else...
Unless you're getting ready for a Hollywood awards show
nobody needs to spend that much time in a bathroom, so how about if we
move along to
office
nook or maybe even the
bedroom?
Neither of those suit your fancy? Well, there's still the
kitchen
and everybody's favorite, the
living
room...
